From the pages of a Victorian-era design reference comes this extraordinary lithograph documenting an embroidered Indian scarf end crafted in Dacca — the city now known as Dhaka, Bangladesh. Plate 48 of its source volume, the composition was drawn by P.H. Delamotte under the direction of Digby Wyatt as part of a landmark effort to preserve and celebrate the pinnacle of Indian craftsmanship for Western audiences.

Three sweeping arched panels overflow with densely layered blooms, unfurling leaves, and scrolling botanical vines — all rendered in rich indigo blue against a luminous cream ground. Ornate floral border columns and a scattered flower-field infill complete the composition, reflecting the deep influence of Mughal decorative tradition. The result is a study in disciplined beauty: structured yet lush, historic yet thoroughly at home in a contemporary interior.
